98 lexus gs400 factory alarm problems

this lexus had previously had an aftermarket alarm installed which apparently worked at sometime.

the current owner bought it from a dealer without the alarm. all the taps are still available at the wires.

I am attempting to install another aftermarket alarm system. currently the factory alarm / door locks do not opperate properly and I am trying to get everything working like stock before more mods are made to the car.

The previous installer taped the lock and unlock wires at the control module ijn the drivers door. it looks like they did a clean install but the door locks do not respond from the drivers switch. the factory alarm transmitter (built into key) seems to sometimes work to unlock but never to arm. when it does this, all doors but the dirvers work.

any ideas???
