Okay...Today I had a customer come back complaining that his battery went dead way too fast...

So the first thing I checked was if the battery was good or no...Took it to advanced for testing and they said it wasnt good. It was a 1000 CCA Batt with side and top post connections...The Car is using the side post connections and I had added a battery terminal to the top post for the amps...

then one of the guys there told me that using both the top post and the side post of the battery at the same time like I was doing was bad for the battery and would cause the battery to have dead cells faster than if I only used say the side post only...

Now to me this sounds completely ignorant...But for some reason I cant get that outa my mind...I have to know..So if someone knows plz post....

No.  I have seen few cars that use top and side posts.  He has a drain/drawing too much current without the engine running.
I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.

well when you think about it,theres no difference in taking from the top or the sides or both, once you go into the battery itself......it all comes from the same place, just like an earth is an earth.
I would check the current draw with the engine off using any old multimeter, from memory you wouldn't want much more then .5 amp...anything more and you got issues, how many amplifiers are we talking here? cos 2-3 highpowered amps might cause a little bit of a problem when sitting static, but shouldn't kill a battery, I had a problem with my subaru, the amps were draining too much when the car was static, but that was taking about 5 days of being switched before I had trouble starting the car and that was with a standard battery.

No that's BULL $HIT. I have used that set up for years. In fact I will not buy a batt if it doesn't have sides and tops. he's just trying to make you think he knows what he's talking about. The batt was probly ready to take a crap anyway. or he played the system without the car running till the batt died.

Thats what I thought.,...I have been installing for 7 years....And anytime that someone had a duel post battery I have always done the same thing...

But that damn guy at Advanced got my curiosity...And I couldnt get it off my mind and wanted to know what others thought....

The problem was in his alarm...Got it fixed so now no more dead battery..

Thanx for the opinions...

Its funny, but every now and again I hear something that gets stuck in my head the same way. Something that makes you question what you KNOW because a little voice in the back of your head says, "what if i'm wrong?! what if im damaging peoples batteries". Thanks for asking, cause when I first read the post I thought, "no, thats ludicrous" But then my Rice Crispys spoke up and said.. "but what if!" And I was like, "fook you! your not suppose to be here right now, ive not missed my medications in weeks!" but they kept talking, so i had to put them in the garbage disposal.
That was a close one.

That's the thing with this business. You can refer the BLAME to the adult version of the childhood game of TAG. Last guy to touch the car. Your it!

General rule of life involving sh*t.... if it looks like sh*t, smells like sh*t, sounds like sh*t or even resembles sh*t, it's sh*t, go around it, remove it, throw it away...

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
