OK im about to buy a JL AUDIO 12 W7 for a unbelievable price. I currently have a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2 It is 550WRMS * 1 @ 4ohms. IN the manual it says that minimim brided load is 2 ohm. Apparantly the sub is wired for a 3ohm load currently. I think the sub is either a SVC or DVC 3 ohm. JL AUdio site is down so i cant confirm this. Does anyoen know the specs off the top of their head. I would like to know if My current amp will push the sub enoguh im not looking to compete. Im currently running a 12W3V2 D2 with 340WRms @ 4ohms. My 500.2 amp is coming on tuesday so i thought this would be a nice upgrade. I posted on PG's site someoen said the amp shoudl be able to do 700WRMS @ 2ohms. Anyways if you guys dont suggest i run this amp with the sub what amp do i need here?

rated around 750 rms. I wouls go to epionion.com and read the reviews on this sub there is a review from a authorized jl audio dealer that is not the best review i have read before. he does not like this sub at all. I would put that amp on it if you have already bought it.

The Phoenix Gold amp would push that sub, but not to its limits. If all you want is good sound quality but still be pretty loud then I think the PG amp would work fine for you. If you can get it for a really good price I would buy it. If you want to push it towards its max I would send back your amp if possible and buy something like a JBL BP-1200.1. If you don't want to buy off of ebay another amp that would work well is the MTX 801D. It's priced pretty reasonably priced on sounddomain.com I think.

he wants 450CDN for the sub and sub box. its sealed 1.44ft^3. 450CDN is amazing price. THe 500.2 I bought to power my JL 12W3v2 D2. Anyways their is a slight tear in the surroudn which happened when he installed the sub in the box. he repaired it he said you cant even see it and it doesnt make any differnce in sound quality. He will come drive the sub to my house and let me listen to it first. He wants 650 including a Rockford RF X5. But i personally my t500.2 accompanied with a line driver would out perform that amp any day since my pg amp is  american built and underated. It does close to 600WRMS @ 4 ohms. I might just let this deal go buy me and forget it all together i dont feel like spending more money on car audio ive spent too much in last cpl months for someoen who doesnt have a job lol.

Be VERY careful about the tear in the surround if it hasn't been repaired by JL. Just because it isn't a problem now doesn't mean it won't get bigger a month from now.
