2000 Accord Front Door Speaker Options

I have a 2000 Accord Sedan and am looking to replace the stock stereo which will include replacing the 6.5"s in the front doors.  I have heard the depth is short (<2").  I have two questions:

1)  I attempted to pull the stock speaker grills out of the door panel to measure depth but they did not want to come out.  My service manual does not address removing only the grills, does anyone know if I have to remove the door panel first?

2)  I am looking at a set of Profile 165A's, depth runs ~66cm, will these fit?
