Led Scanner Plans

I just got one froma local electronics store,NOT RADIO OUTHOUSE..(shack) It was about 10 bucks,came with 8 led's,and a circuit board.. maybe they can send you one... the name of the business was Mark electronics,in beltsville MD.. you will have weather issues..any water/salt combination will QUICKLY kill the led's.. you could also take apart a 'scanner',thats basically all this thing was,in a kit..just pull the led's,iff you are using a SMT led,keep good track of the polarity..well either way,it will either work one way,or NOT.. the kit runs on 9V,so you will need a resistor,or voltage regulator,zeiner,or however you want to get 9v,i dont think you want to be repalcing batteries..although it should last a while.. ok, yeh i was thinking like 16 LEDs, i would definitely make some kind of enclosure afterwards to protect from the elements. thanks!Tom

well,the electronics should be in the passenger compartment ,then wired out to wherever you put the led's, without finding a 16 led circuit board,my suggestion would be to double the led's up,like matching the top/bottom or left/right with the same exact patern on opposite/matching rows.. I think you get the idea..just use a smaller than supplied resisor on the board for each pair of led's..(assuming you series the pairs of led's) then some thick heat shrink,the kind that gets real gooie with heat..to seal the led's ;don't worry about the main board like i said,consider the inside of the car,and a couple cat-5's should get the power to the led's in a small /easy-to-keep track of bundle of wires.. just a side note,cat-5 is as good as it gets for pre-amp cable,4 channels in one small,cheap cable.. 45° twisted pair (you know..those 100$ + super cables...)just spend a few bucks on some AWESOME WBT connectors.. anyway... I will try to find the package or look on the circuit board for some kind of name/description of this board..maybe they have others..'Stereo' Mike
