I originally posted this in the alarm forum but it has kind of turned into a relay problem and I am now officially frustrated.

background: I have a DEI rattler model 300 w/ two button transmitter. The alarm was already installed when I bought the car 3 years ago and I do not have any instructions or user guides to help. I recently installed a trunk lock kit and I wanted it to run or be activated by the alarm keypad.  From a previous post I found out that there is a (-) negative output from the alarm brain when buttons I & II are pressed together. I was told to get a 30amp 12v 5 pin relay and connect the the following pins:\

pin 85-RED / white wire coming out of brain         pin 86-12 v        pin 30-12 v        pin 87- trunk solenoid

is this right? I did all the nessacery connections what is happening.

I have one terminal of the solenoid grounded in the trunk and the other wire going into the relay. is it enough amperage to drive the solenoid its rated at 45
