hey folks...
Something wrong with my deck.
Started awhile back when my tunes would start to crackle and fade into nothing. - They'd sometimes come back on if I turned the car off and back on again or tap the brake or flick on my turn signal.
Thought it was either a bad ground, a short or bad speakers.
Well, I replaced all my speakers and my wiring and she's still doin’ it.
I tested the 2 power wires going to the unit and it's getting plenty of juice but when I tested the speaker wires - nothing!!!
I also had my local vehicle audio shop test the unit and they said it was the deck for sure! - They said I might as well just buy a new
one since a repair would cost me $100 anyway.
Well, I'm kinda broke and love to tinker with things.
So, I got the deck opened up and was gonna give the circuit board a good cleaning (since there's rusty stuff on many of the solder points) and check 'em over but was wondering if anyone had any pointers or ideas what might be wrong with it? What to look for?
Thanks in advance,
Mike_89GTS

Thanks for the response Alpine Guy.
That's exactly it! - I used to do it when it would warm up.
Now, it rarely works first thing in the morning and if it
does work by chance it's only for 5-10mins then it'll quit.
No idea what it was on the inside eh?
Thanks again,
Mike

I can't remember exactly what it was, it had something to do with the outputs for the speakers, im guessing something was shorting.

you just have to use your eyes !!

look at each connection on the board for halo cracking... also look at the SMD's for lifting on one side.... spray the board with a good contact cleaner then take a hogs hair brush ( or old toothbrush ) and scrub the board first to clean it up....  then just resolder anything that is starting to halo crack or that looks suspect..... be careful w/your soldering and then reassemble it and give it a try.... resolder the O/P IC and the Input connector for sure....

once you've got it working again spray the resoldered board with conformal coating to protect it and off you go.....
