I have a 1990 Prelude that I can put the seats down and have acces to the trunk. Should I face my Subs out facing the back end of the car, or should i face my subs foward and put down the seat. Or a combination of the two?

I've always received the best response aiming the subs toward the rear of the car combined with some means for the waves to penetrate into the cabin. Putting down the seat would certainly work.

Im trying to go for the best sound quality that I can, if that helps, Can anyone explain the pros and cons on facing the subs foward or back. Best combination- Foward with seat down - Foward with seat up - Backward with seat down - Backward with seat up- thanks

I think ... and correct me if I'm wrong pros ... that the best possible way would be to fire the sub into the cabin but completely seal off the rest of the trunk. i.e. either run IB or Sealed box but extend the baffle to close the trunk off.

The cavern like space of the trunk only adds room modes in the form of some cancellation and some gain. Most people after a little experimentation appreciate the gain the trunk cavern provides. But, at least it seems to make sense to me, someone in search of maximum sq would remove this variable from the equation.

i have a 95 accord with the fold down rear seat and from my own experience i found that facing the my sub into the cabin and securing the box near the rear end of the trunk was more effiecent and has a much cleaner sound. doin it this way allows for as much distance as possible from the sub and at the same time the sub is in phase witht the listener. btw i am using a ported enclosure with the port facing into the cabin as well. doing this also allowed me to get rid my trunk rattle without any dampening.
