Installing sub into Range Rover

Hello, I am trying to install a sub and amp into my Range Rover.  The Range Rover is already an amplified system with a factory subwoofer.  I have good experience with installing but I can not get this to work.  The amp turns on but there is no action from the sub.  The problem I think might be from the patch cables.  I do not have an aftermarket head unit in and I wired in the patch adapter into the rear sub speaker wires, but this does not work.  I was told by 1 shop that you can not add into an amplified system and was told by 2 shops that I could.  I have tried wiring this in from the speaker wired coming from the factory amp and then also finding the speaker wires before they go into the factory amp and using them and still nothing.  I was wondering if someone could give me some insight on this or if I just need to get a headunit and replace all the speakers =(

Well, I used a RF Convertor, I did not directly wire the RCAs into the speaker wires.  But I was wondering if maybe the signal was not strong enough for that?  The factory sub was a doil voice coil and so I used the 2 leads from that and wired them into the 2 grey and 2 white on the RF Convertor.  I have not yet met someone who has done this to a Range Rover without putting in a new deck, but I might just have to get a new deck for it.  I do like challenges, but this is too much of one lol

LOL yeah, i know, I was told if I put a new HU in, then I need to replace the speakers, but couldnt I just cut out the factory amps that go to them?

You could bypass the amps I'm sure. I don't know the exact set up in the rover though. Never worked on one.Nik
