In the process of installing a Rostra GlobalCruise. The supplier has given me details of the wires to pickup Vss and Tach (different from the database on this site, but I guess there's usually more than one way...), but not sure where to physically find all of them:

Tacho - black wire at diagnostics socket (got that - easy!)

or black off coil (dumb question, but where is it??)

Vss - RED / yellow off ECU (again, where  is the ECU??)

or PURPLE / white off ECM (where is it??)

Any assistance in understanding the geography of my RAV is greatly appreciated. The rest of the installation will be a stroll in the park...

Have just about  finished the install, but got conflicting information about the Vss point so looking for clarification please:

This connector described on the the ECU on this site does not exist on my RAV - there are 26, 16 and 12 pin ones on my 1998 UK RAV GX. Can someone with access to the circuit digrams confirm the correct socket/pin/colour?

Thanks very much,

- Paul

I have no experience installing cruise control, but I did happen to help a co-worker find the VSS wire once in a 2002 RAV4.......it was PURPLE / white, at the ECM, which was behind the glove box.

I believe your '98 is the older design, but Toyota seems to nearly always put the ECM behind the glove box, so look there.
