need help to over ride screen safty on pioneer avic-n2donny stewart

On the avic-n2 the screen safety cannot be bypassed, the gyro scope is tied in withe the video.  If the gyro scope is moving the video will not play

makes me happy that finally, the newest is not always the best. I have also heard that if the avic-n1 is upgraded to any version newer than 1.2 (current), the software will also prohibit driving while playing video via the gyroscope. fair warning for anyone looking forward to the next update. -Dan

Here's your trick: 1.) Connect the Parking Brake lead from the hide-away unit directly to ground. 2.) Connect the Reverse-Signal lead from the hide-away unit to a switch near your seat that your can activate while driving. Connect the other side of the switch to 12V power. 3.) Loop the video output from the top of the hide-away unit into the rear-view camera input on the bottom of the hide-away unit. 4.) In the AVIC-N2 initial setup screen, turn on the rear-view camera feature. Now, whenever your passenger wants to watch a DVD or whatever while you're *concientiously keeping your eyes on the road*, simply put the unit in navi-mode and flip the switch. One caveat, there will be a text message at the bottom of the screen that's meant for actual rear-view cam use, something to the effect of "CAUTION: IMAGE MAY APPEAR REVERSED" However, most letterboxed movies don't use that part of the screen anyway. I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

It would be nice to remove that "CAUTION" msg, not sure if it's possible tho. As far as the actual reverse signal, it will still work if you also hook up the reverse lead on the hide-away unit to the reverse light. Like this: Hideaway Unit    |    |    |----Switch----Battery    |    | Reverse Light Now, you might think that whenever you close that switch, you're video is going to turn on, but also one of your your reverse lights will turn on. Not sure why, but this doesn't actually happen; I have this hooked up to my driver-side reverse light, and that light doesn't turn on when I activate that switch.
