i installed a clifford matrix 3.5 in a 1999 mercedes slk230. everything is working well except the keyless entry will not work during remote start. you have to manually use the key to unlock the doors. i tapped into the door lock/unlock wires at the keyless entry module behind the gauges. would it work if i connect it to the wire in the kick panel?

Well according to what I see you can use either location. Did you meter the wires while turning the key to be sure they were correct?  Failing that I guess you could try the kick panel.

no,i didn't meter the wire while turning the key.
keyless entry works at all times except for when the car is remote started.
i think i should have it checked out while manually started and see if the car unlocks. for some reason, i don't think it will work because it is probably a mercedes feature. since the car had a factory alarm, i had to put 12 volts to the keysense wire during remote start and i think that makes the car think the key is already in the ignition so why do you need to unlock the car with the keyless entry.
i'm wondering if anyone else did this car or a similar one and had this problem and how they fixed it.

don't need keysense? hmm, i thought the stock alarm armed/disarmed with lock/unlock? will i have to unlock before remote starting or do i just not have to worry about the alarm triggering during remote start?

Keysense senses the key in the ignition. Like dare said you dont need that. Here is the door trigger info.

Door Trigger brn/gray (L), brn/pink (R)  -  pin swtch or PSE ctrl mod
Notes: The PSE (pneumatic system equipment) control module is in the trunk under the jack box.

boomer - i don't think i asked a question about the door triggers.
i'm still fairly new at this and i guess the keysense wire does different things on different cars. i recently did a 05 toyota sequoia and if i did not make the car think the key was in the ignition at the time of remote start, the factory alarm would trigger. in this system, the factory alarm was also controlled by the door lock/unlock.
i guess i just kinda assumed the same would apply here. the wiring diagram i got didn't even list a keysense wire... i just found it on my own. i guess in this situation, i just did too much thinking. haha.
thanx for the replies guys. i welcome any more replies and i will post the results after i check out the car on thursday.

You will have to go to the motor wires for the lock & unlock if the keyless is disabled during remote start sequence.
