Remote start, starts & dies - Tach signal

OK here's my issue. I have a Avistart 3200 installed on a 98 Chevy silverado, Diesel... So the tach is supposed to read between 1&7 volts AC, it being a diesel possibly the reason is only putting out .2V AC @ idle... So OK no problem, we'll run it tachless with voltage checking... wrong, won't work that way it goes through start squence and the truck acts like the key is turned on for about the 10-15 seconds it waits before it checks the voltage. so makes ya think that the ignition wires are hooked up wrong, so i double checked all my connections, it's a 3 ignition wire system and everything appears OK, all fuses OK, ok connections OK... so my thought that well maybe i can run it with the tach and just give it a bogus signal somehow,    anyone have any ideas what is wrong or how i can make it work? Thanks!!!

Does the security light do anything when you try to remote start the vehicle? Did you do anything to bypass the immobilizer? Directwire shows this for the tach wire "Tach wire on the 6.5 Diesel is white at the instrument cluster." Certified Security Specialist

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

This "doully"  i had to get a new name for some reason it wouldn't let me reply anymore...?  anyways...   I don't  recall seeing the security light, everything is normal when it "attempts" to start.  I purchased the truck and it had a remote start previously install (CSI command start 2500)  it didn't come with a remote and didn't know if it worked or not, so i just bought a new one and ripped that one out.  it had two wires going through the fire-wall yellow and white i believe, I figured it was for the starter kill, they tap into a couple wires wrapped in conduit on drivers side.  I didn't hook them back up anywhere, the other to remote starts i have installed i never hooked that up, also never messed with any "factory" alarm disabling.  I don't believe that i had a vehicle that needed it?  Does anyone know if I need to do something pretaing to this??  The other two vehicles I installed on were a 97 Dodge (gas) and a 2001 Dodge Diesel.  Thanks for any help!

This truck may have pass lock II. I am thinking this is where your issue may be. Have you bypassed this? If not this is your reason for the truck starting and then stalling right afterward.MECP certified (If it really means anything)

the passlock II may be my problem,  do you know how to go about bypassing this?

This may or may not help you but here it is. I own a silverado that has pass lock 2 on it and when I first installed my remote start it would start and then stall just as fast. I did not know any thing about the passive theft deterent(passlock) after some research I bought a bypass and it worked like a charm. GM used pass lock 1,2, and 3. 3 being the latest aka "transponder" system. Try bypasskits.com they should have some application charts and get you headed in the right direction.

The WHITE wire that was going into the engine bay from the cab was the TACH INPUT for the CS2500. The YELLOW wire was for the temperature sensor that would have been attached to a rad line on the truck. Look for where the WHITE wire was attached and use that wire again.Jeff
