I thought it was bad when Mad Mike said the RF T1 was the "best sub avalible on the market", but last nights episode was even worse. They were doing a install in the trunk of a Caprice and they had three MTX 10" subs being run by 9 MTX "mini" amps (like the smallest MTX thunder amps).
Now running nine amps to three subs is pretty dumb, but it gets worse. When Mad Mike showed the owner of the car the system he said each amp was putting out "1000 watts of power, for a total of 9000 watts!!" I just about fell off the couch laughing when he said that.
I bet some kid is running out today to buy some "1000" watt MTX amps.

Product advertisement, and entertainment.

If you had companies sponsoring you to put on a show, that probably makes a lot more than our local shops, then you would be up there saying Audiobahn Flame Q's were the best SQ subs you can buy hands down, and so would I and the next man. Money does funny things!!

As THEY get paid for ADVERTISEMENT, we as professionals who know the products they are using, know that 98% of it is BS.

I haven't seen them use ONE quality product as they are claiming it is all the best. Not to say that they aren't using SOME DESCENT equipment, but nothing that is in the "best" category of any kind, besides some of the wheels they use.

I am not siding here in any way, but just understanding where they come from.

And you know good and well them MTX amplifers have an RMS output of 1000 watts........................................................@ 48V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the show, and I realize its all advertising, its not like we are gonna see Adire or RE stuff on there anytime soon. But I still dont think they should be giving such obvious mis-information.
Bottom line though, I like the show and I doubt most of the kids on there know a 1000W amp from a 200W amp, they are just happy to have some sort of music in their cars.

Most of the cars on there end up on ebay so apparently they aren't happy..

ebay? really. well, i guess im not suprised, because sometimes it looks like the work they do doesn't last long, and the inconvience some of the custom work would cause would soon outwiegh  the initall coolness. alot of these cars they do, like the van with the hot tub, aren't pratical for everyday drivers, and i thought the reason these people are on the show is because they can't buy another car. im just amazed they can do all of that work in an hour. no wonder they got the show.
