recently installed a remote starter on a 99 park ave and used a dei 555g to by pass the pk3 system.car starts fine every time with the remote starter however when the key is put into lock cylinder and turned ona few seconds later the security light comes on and stays on. when you start the car with the key the security light  acts normal (ie goes out). when the remote start starts the car the security light is not on. checked all connections everything seems right. the only discrepency i beleive their might be is the fact that there are two purple wires coming out of the pk3 module, i hooked into one of these per the 555g instructions and it is my understanding that either one will work.never tried to hook to the other untill i got some input as i dont want to just move connections around for no reason.

Any help is appreciated!

Not familiar with the 555G but I know with some of the GM's that I've worked on, the module that I use has a jumper that needs to be inserted to work on certain models and inserted another way for other. If there are jumper's make sure that they are in the proper place. Another thing to look for is to ensure that the ground on the unit is goos as well as the key sense wire is hooked up to the right wire. ( if applicable)

I know in my experience with Chevy Passlock systems I have found that it is easily "tricked". If the connection between one or more of the wires disconnects during opperation it will throw a security light, even if the wire is reconnected. I wouldn't worry about it that much as long as the car runs fine with the key and while in remote start.  Most likely the computer resets itself every time the ignition shuts off anyway.  I would imagine that every time the remote start shuts down it is losing a connection between the wires that carry the "r" code.

Thanks for the info everyone. I did make sure the jumper was correct and double checked the ground. I thought about using the 556u but the owner had just paid $34  for an extra key and they didn't want to have to buy another. However  I have recently heard reports of trouble with the 555g and other dei bypasses so in the future I think I'll use the 556u or equivalent.

Thanks
