hey you guys im getting 3 12in memphis Mclass subs and im gonna have it wired down to 1.33 ohms. Now would i want to get 3 4ohm single voice coil subs or dual voice coil? Also these subs have 200 watts rms so 600 rms for all 3 subs. What amp would you guys recommend. I have a jbl 600.1 amp right now and the guy at the local car audio place recommends i get the jbl 1200.1 for the setup im going to get. Do you guys agree with him or stick with my amp now? also there going to be in a ported box. thanks

Definitaly keep the amp. there's no reason not to. As for the subs, get 4ohm single coils.

Yes. Keep your current amplifier. If that dealer thinks the more powerful amplifier will have any audible increase in SPL in this case, tell him that he either needs to:
1) do much more learning about how car stereos actually work OR
2) stop trying to sell you stuff you don't need because you don't appreciate it.
Seriously, that's horrible. Here. Ask him this:
"Why do more speakers require more power?"
He can't give you an answer w/o feeding you bullsh*t.
Increasing the cone area of the system INCREASES reference efficiency, DECREASING the need for more power. This resulting increase in SPL is further amplified when you consider the power gain from wiring the extra driver in parallel.
Keep your current amplifier. Ditch your bad salesperson.

ya ok thanks. He says that those subs are rated low and can handle alot more more than 200 watts which is what they recomended rms is and is what i am going to be feeding them. Also since there going to be in a ported box doesnt that decrease the rms they can handle? and by about how much.

You do not need the 1200.1 one for those, no way. My friend has two M Class 12s running off a kenwood 500W rms amp and that amps is putting out more then those subs can handle. The 600.1 will be more than enough power, especially considering they are going in a ported box.

That dealer has to be on crack. All hes doing is trying to get u to pay more than u have to in which he makes more money. Its business and it sucks. Just dont fall for any of his games. Dont be surprised if he tries to sell you a cool looking chrome capacitor.
