I just installed a brand new amp for a guy today. It sounded fine for like a min. then it started this repetitive very loud bumping noise and would not stop unless power was killed to the amp or deck. Does anyone know what the problem is.

Could be one of several things: bad amp ground, amp input gain way too high (most likely cause) or bad RCA input cables.

I changed the rca cables, has a good chassis ground and what do you mean by input gain. the amp gain or something on the deck. He has a deh-p3600.

I get a random bump noise from my Polk C400.4. It happens maybe three times a day. I've checked the wires two or three times - even tried to create the noise by jiggling the wires but nothing happened. I checked my ground with a meter and it checked out fine. I'm stumped. My system is perfect except for that once-every-now-and-then bump.

Amplifier gain = input gain.

ALSO, is the amp drilled in place into the frame of the car?  Some amps if they are straight screwed into the frame or metal get bad noise in them and go crazy.  Unscrew it from the frame if it is and see how it sounds.  One of our installers had that happening until I told him how to fix it.
