How can I extend my +12V 6 AWG battery cable? In my van, the OEM pos. cable is connected to the engine harness (go Chrysler, great design) so replacing the cable is not possible (for less than $1,000). How can I extend the cable? It's getting old and I don't want it to fail on me, plus I want to add some reliable (gold, etc) battery posts as well. I was thinking I could add a simple distro block and run a large gauge wire from the battery, but is there a simpler connector I could use? Do they even make 6 AWG butt connectors? If so,  wouldn't crimping those be a pain or require a special tool ($)? If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Jeff

ps. it's a 96 Plymouth Grand Voyager (3.3L V6)

They make butt connectors that big, when I was doing mechanic work on semis we had plenty of larger sizes around the shop. As far as crimping it, if you can somehow get that cable out of the engine compartment for a second just take a vice to it or set it on a piece of wood or something and beat the hell out of it with a hammer, both methods, while rudimentary, make great crimps. If you can't find one at a local store check around at a semi part dealership. Also you could solder it together and tape it up real well as an alternative.
