With this unit about a month away, I am curious if anyone is waiting for it to arrive. I am going to take my AVIC-N2 out and fiberglass one into my dash.

Im debating on a few things right now, including the D1. I recently purchased a 91 Integra, for CHEAP from a buddy of mine with a used car lot. I am planning to use the vehicle as a personl demo car / daily driver to show customers more of my work.
Anyhow, I am planning on doing a 5.1 setup in the car. I don't want a flip out screen. So I am interested in either getting the D1, or just molding a screen into the dash. We'll see.

If I had an Integra like that, I'd mold in a PIONEER AVD-W6210 touch screen in the dash, add the AVG-VDP1 Vehicle Dynamics Processor for cool gauges for RPM, speed, est. HP & Torque, etc. Use the DVH-P5000MP for the radio/DVD playback, DEQ-P8000 for surround processing out of the DVH. No navigation, but most import people are more into video than navigation. Better demo to show your fiberglassing skill.
Experience gained is directly proportional to the amount of equipment destroyed - break it & learn!

From what I understand, the D1 doesn't play movie DVD's, now my rep could be feeding me the biggest load ever. But that's what I know so far.

That is correct. The D1 supports DVD Rom, not DVD video, therefore doing away with video playback. It does have a video input for use with an external DVD source. This is one of the reasons this unit will retail for $1599.00 instead of the $1999.00 of the AVIC-N2. One of the nice selling points to this unit is the dual slots, one for navi and the other for CD. That will do away for the need to take out the navi disc just to listen to a CD.

if you get the DVD changer, video will shut off when you start driving just the same as the N2
