i recently bought a mannix 2 way pager alarm with remote start and all i had took it somewhere to get it installed however they can not get the remote start working they said the starter wire only get hot for a split second and they cant figure out why they said its the first time they ever had a problem with remote starts i am driving a 1995 pontiac trams am with a 6 speed manual is there something they should know some sort of trick i know they are running it on generator should they run it tach or does it not matter they said all the other ignition wires work fine just not the starter and they said they tried rewiring it many different ways and it still dont work i watched them for about 3 hours try other things and they said if i cant figure out something they cant they will gladly hook up the remote start at no charge so i really would like to figure this out considering i paid 300 to have it installed if you guys can help i would appreciate it very much.

It probably is not seeing a proper tach signal or the clutch switch is not bypassed correctly. Most of the installers in this forum will probably tell you that, unfortunately, the Mannix systems are nothing but trouble. I have put on a countless number of remote starts over the years and the Mannix is junk. I will never hook up another one. I know you don't want to hear this but it's true. They have almost no tech support. If you email them they will send you info about getting the proper tach but it is in half-ass broken english.

Need more information from you. Does the vehicle just sit there and try to start ? Does the starter engage at all ? How was the VATS bypassed ?

the car does not try to start the acc and on part of the ignition turns on but the starter does not engage the relays are external they said it seems as the brain in malfuctioning so i just bought a new remote start alarm a cheaper one without all the bells and wistles that the mannix alarm had i went with mannix as it had the safety features for the remote start it has a ground to make sure the car is neutral and one that hooks up to the parking brake as well but this new one does not so i will just have to watch my ass with it.

If the starter is not engaging, make sure that your getting voltage on the starter output of the Mannix and then ensure that if a starter disable was installed that the output of the starter wire is on the motor side of the relay and not the switch side.

Remember on Mannix Alarm you have to remove a Jumper from the brain to Choose Auto or Manual (SW1 or SW2)plus you need to get to the initial setting and change from Tach to Voltage.
Also for your car you need to power up the IGN 3 using a relay in order to start the car and do the follow from ign 1 (blue Wire)connect to #85,#87 and #85 to 12 v constant, and #30 to ign 3.
I'll be working with mannix alarm for about 2 years and no problem at all.
PS.I don't work for them but this alarm work good for me.
