Hi,

I remember reading somewhere about installing a switch in order to turn your brake lights on and off. In other words, if you left the switch off, the brakes would work normally. If you turned the switch on, when you hit the brakes your tail lights wouldn't light up. Is this just as simple as putting a switch inline with your brake light wire? Please don't go nuts with safety issues...this is just out of curiousity.

Thanks! Above my brake, there's the switch with 2 wires. I used one to shut down the remote starter....are these the wires that you mean? And it doesn't matter if the brake is (+) or (-), a switch won't care, right?

Same wire as long as you get it at the right place. ie right at the brake switch. I guess certain vehicles could be different but not likely. Let me know what the vehicle is and I can tell you for sure. Some side effects could be that the cruise won't cancel on certain vehicles. Again, tell me what the vehicle is and I might be able to tell you more.

'92 Integra. Now I'm wondering if this affects just the brake lights, or the parking lights, too....since my back brake lights are the parking lights.

It won't affect the park lights. I am not 100% sure but I think your cruise won't cancel if you cut this wire. But then again, I would hope you wouldn't be using this on the highway anyways so it shouldn't really matter. Cut it after where you spliced your wire for remote start and your remote start will still shut down properly.

Do you mean if I turn the switch on (to cut the brake lights), and use the cruise, then the cruise won't cancel.....OR just by cuttting that wire and installing the switch, it won't cancel anymore (whether the switch is on of off)?

whith the switch on (technically speaking off or open) the cruise won't cancel. With the switch off (on or closed) the cruise will work fine.
