Hello, this is my first car sterio system and I am having many problems.Everything is hooked up fine with the amp but for some reason I am getting no sound at all from my subwoofers.At first I thought the amp was blown but since then I have tried many woofers and amps with the same connection and the problem still persists.I even went out and bought a new RCA wire but to no avail.Any comments or helpfull hints will be appreciated, Thank you very much

If you have access to a Digital Multimeter go to the amp and check to see that you have at least 12V at the amp...If not then check your connection to the battery ...If that is good then replace your fuse,...

Also while at the amp meter the Remote wire (make sure that the car is on and the head unit is on)....If you have no voltage on the remote wire then check your connection behind the radio and make sure you havent pulled it loose putting the Headunit back in the dash....

Also make sure you have a good ground (Scrape the paint off ETC)

Check the fuses in the amp....

Look on the amp where you hook the Pow, Gnd, and Rem wire and make sure that none of the wires are frayed and touching other terminals...

If I can think later I will post more...This should get you started...

is there a chance it could be my CD players RCA jacks that are the problem?

oh sorry, but by the way everything sounded great when I installed it then all of a sudden it stoped working.everything is connected the way it should be

Check all of your fuses... ALL OF THEM... check the inline fuse near the battery, check the fuses on the amp, and any other fuse on the line.

Also check your cable to make sure the insulation is still good. Look for cracks, scrapes...make sure there is no break in the insulation.

Check that the power wire and ground are properly secured into the amplifer.

Make sure your ground is tight and secure to a metal floorboard (no seat brackets or anything of that nature, just straight to the floor). Also make sure ALLL paint is scraped away (often gray primer can look like metal...). If you have a crimp on ring terminal, make sure the crimp is good and secure, and that the ring terminal is bolted firmly down (no play at all should be present. If there is, use a bigger bolt and a washer).

Check that your gains are set properly.

Can you tell us whether or not the amplifer even turns on?

If it doesn't turn on, disconnect your turn-on power wire, and make a direct connection from the power terminal to the turn-on terminal. If this doesn't turn it on, and you've followed all of the steps above, then your amp is bad. If it does turn on, then we have to look at other things.

Yes the amp turns on, not even in protect mode. The green light stays on and I have complete power to it just no sound out of my woofers.I replaced all of my fuses and wires also.

If the amp appears to be powering with no protection light, try feeding it a signal from another source (like anothjer line level output from your HU or even from a boom box.) If it works, then the problem is in your HU or your RCA cables. If not, then the problem is blown speakers or fried amp.

Again, with your meter check to see if there is AC voltage on the RCA's while you have music playing, It would be best if you have a CD that played test tones on it. If you are getting voltage on the RCA lines then the next step is to make sure your subs are wired properly, make sure the wires did not come off the speaker terminals. If these are good, then you probably have a bad amp. It should be pretty easy to figure out the problem. What head unit do you have? if it has subwoofer RCA outputs and that is what your RCA's are connected to, make sure the subwoofer output is turned on on the radio.

I tried pluging it(the RCA wire) into the headphone jack on my portable cd player and my home head unit(the RCA didnt fit well at all though),then to the channel i was running my speakers to on the amp and still did not get any sound from the subwoofers.I even installed the whole system in a friends car to see if it worked and both amp and subs worked fine.I do not have access to a voltage meter and if I did, what how many volts would the jacks suppossed to be?Thank you very much for your time.

Then I suspect you have a defective head unit.
