I've heard the new pioneer AVICN2 you can't just ground the parking brake wire to bypass the DVD feature. Pioneer is using the gyro sensor to detect motion to shut the DVD feature off while driving. Does anyone know how to bypass this feature. There is going to be a lot of ticked off customers that are spending $2,000 to have an indash DVD player.

No you cannot do it. Pioneer did it on purpose, to save their asses. It is illegal to bypass the safety features in MOST states. You are not allowed to display a moving picture in the view of a driver, while the car is in motion.

Sell them a different unit if you want the liability...

I have been going off in the video forum and I don't want it spilling off into this forum.

So to put it easily, it works the way it was designed. I don't f**king care if the owner doesn't like it. If they don't then they shouldn't have bought this unit in the first place. Anyone who buys a unit just to watch while driving will have an appointment with Darwin or the judge when they are charged with murder(it has happened) or other crime.

I almost got killed in my shop truck a month ago when some jackass dialing his cell phone ran into me doing 70 MPH. I've refused to work on people's cars when they ask me to do this. #@&%$# them all!

I just asked a simple question if anyone knew how. I didn't need a legal lesson, I'm well aware of what can happen and some people are just idiots. I understand there are legal situations that come up. All my video system I put in I have the customer sign a release form that simple states that front video is illegal to have while driving and you can crash by watching the video. If you reall think about it, there's not that much of a difference installing a really loud audio system in a vehicle. One it's illegal to have a loud system because of noise levels and it blocks the driver from what's happening outside the vehicle(police cars, firetrucks ect...)that's why you can't wear headphones while you drive. But what's funny is know one looks at an audio system that way, and we all do it without realizing the the harmful effects it could have. Yes both things distract the driver while driving, but the video aspect of it gets the most attention. Also there are alot of shops that tint windows darker than the legal limit. Does that make them wrong too?

Me personally, I never would put a video system in my own vehicle, nor a couple thousand audio system. So does this make me wrong when you just trying to please the customer. If you think about it, how many DVD systems that are installed in vehicles actually work the way they're supposed to. If one shop is not going install the dvd system to work all the time, the shop down the street will do it for a small fee. In the end it's all the same. So this brings me to my point. Pioneer is going to have a lot of overstock with their AVICN2. Unless you get the 60year old guy who wants it just for navigation, but who wants to pay for a $2,000 navigation when you can just get the Magellin for half the price with the same navigation features.

What if the person just wants the screen to play animations much like some of the higher end pioneer decks do, or the type of visualizations you can get on windows media player?? Why dont they put a similar motion detector on lets say the pioneer 960mp, after all its visualizations are near video quality. Also what if a passenger wants to watch a video or movie??

Not letting people use the screen while driving is like a company not allowing their cars to go over 65mph becasue it is illegal to drive faster than that. What people do with their products should be their own business. Now I realize that pioneer has the right to do what they want to their product, but I think it is a very bad business idea. If i had the money and was in the market for a screen for my car I would either buy a competitors model that allowed you to use the screen while driving, or buy a older N1 that you could bypass, and I dont think im going out on a limb when I say many people share my point of view.

Basically what im saying is; their are more uses for the screen then watching movies and that people should be allowed to run the risk of getting a ticket or getting in accident if they so choose.

Not if they hit me or my family and friends. I equate this to drunk driving, don't really need to do it, irregardless of the money.
