Which is better, or rather more accurately envelopes you in the listening stage?
I know that Bass frequencies are unidirectional, and that below 80Hz the source can not be located audibly, but the thing is, at the extreme dB levels that most car audio guys have there bass, you can actually feel the air movement, not just the pressure wave. Example: Aim a sub at you and stand 1ft away while it's playing, you will be able to actually feel the air movement. Now, stand ~10ft from the face of the sub and you can feel the pressure that it is creating, but you won't feel the direct air movement from the cone.
Now, this would probably only work if you had subs in the doors, but lets assume that there is an 8in sub in each door. Would they benefit from being wired in stereo vs. Mono?

I think any benefits wouldn't really be audibly noticable, but that's considering the 8 inch subs will actually be playing sub-frequencies. Move just a little higher in the frequency range, and the benefits increase.

You can get a slight increase that's detectable by the SPL meter, but you won't hear it.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
