I have a 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette with the factory DVD system.  The kids complain that the screen is too small when they are in the back seat, so i want to add a flip down between the second row seats.  The question is how to get a video signal signal to the new LCD.  The factory system has no RCA's.  Is there a harness made for these vehicles?  Do I have to splice into the factory harness to add an RCA converter?  Perhaps someone here has experienced these installs.

I have done this and what I need from you to see if its the same as the one I did is you need to take the unit down and get the Make and Model #......

The one I did was in a 05 Tahoe.....Here is what I did in it...

the player in the tahoe I did was a ....(Panasonic Model# 15200217) you can find this info on the back of the DVD player you will have to take it out to see...

at the dvd player, there are three plugs...one for power and audio, one for the aux input jacks and parental control button, and the third which goes to the monitor.  in this plug is the lead you need.  the wire you need is the fourth pin over top row (dark blue).  i removed the top of the unit and soldered the center lead of a rca cord to it.  also connected the shield of the rca to the case of the unit.

if the DVD you have is the same as above then that will work...If not then you can play with it in the same manner just ground the shielding of the RCA and touch the center wire to the pins outs of the DVD player...You will have to have a monitor hooked to it and it will have to be in the car to power it...

good luck write back if you need more help...
