What is the best way to see if installing an alarm or remote start will void the warrenty on a new car....

Its an 05 Honda and the customer wants remote start on it but wants to know if it will void her warenty...I called a dealer and they either couldnt tell or wouldnt tell me....

Is there a web site I can go to or what???

Thanx....

Asmodeus

you may want to print it up and display it in your shop also let the customer know their rights too. I had a customer come in and we put in a r/s in his new truck.  he went back to the dealer to get the oil changed and some other work done on it and the dealer told him that they would void his warranty on his truck unless he took the r/s out so he came back to me to have it removed so I showed him the magnuson moss act and he to it back to the dealer and told them to shove it.

yea they passed some law a while back that said dealers weren't allowed to say that stuff like that voided warentee's, a buddy of mine that owns another shop told me that basically... if you can't prove that the aftermarket product CAUSED the vehicle to malfunction, then it didn't void the warentee.

they did the same thing with oil filters a while back, dealers were saying anything but their oil and filters voided warentee, basically this is all illeagle because it's just a way for the dealers to make more money.. so you should be good asmodeus, UNLESS the dealership is willing to put a free alarm in it looks like, haha, fat chance on that one

Regardless, it doesn't void the warranty even if the aftermarket part cause malfunction. It would mean that you would be paying for the part but it doesn't void the warranty on the vehicle.
