I am having problems with alarm install on a firebird. the problem is the car has some sort of built in feature that causes the UNLOCK portion the door switch to stop working after about 20-30 seconds of exiting the vehicle. This problem causes me to be able to arm the alarm and lock the doors, but upon return to the vehicle the alarm will only disarm and not UNLOCK the doors.  If i use the key to open the doors then this causes a reset in the system ( I think becaue the dome light is coming on ) and the locks will work both directions with the alarm.  This all has to be done with the door open,  or key on or within the 30 sec time frame.  Does anyone know what needs to be cut, or removed for it not to disable the UNLOCK portion of the switch. I am using the color wires suggested in the installers database for wiring codes.  As i said before as long as you try the alarm within a short time of exiting everything works fine, but if you  wait for the 30 sec. then it will no longer unlock unless you open a door or turn on and off the ignition.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanx

You do not need to cut anything just send a negative pulse to the door ajar wire to wake up the body control module so that it can function. The body control module is what controls the door locks and other interior functions.
