Car Starter Problem

After installing a remote starter system, I can not start my car randomly sometimes. I have changed a new battery for this, but still it can not help.

When start fails, there's only a click sounds and then everything is quiet, no cranking either.

Whenever I found this problem happened continuously, I touched the ignition switch wire harness with no purpose and somehow it may work at that time. But after sometime, it can not start again and I have to touch those wires this or that way for quite a while then it will perhaps work again....

I ever thought it was the wire connection problem --- I cut the start wire to make a starter kill feature then I connect the starter kill wire to it and soldered it. Is it because the soldered part has a little more electric resistance, such that when the start wire carries a large current the solder part consumes much of the voltage???

It is a really boring problem --- whenever I leave it alone and think everything is OK now, it will fail the next time or the next next time, which I can not foresee... However, it never died completely, I can always start the car if I keep trying, say, for 10 or 20 or 30 times.

It's 97 Honda Accord, the starter is original Honda one, with mileage of 87,500 miles.

I check the condition of the starter carefully, when I try starting, the starter solenoid works well (the gag bit sounds a loud click, which means current from the start wire of ignition switch wire harness does go through the solenoid and make the "relay" connected for cranking Amp go through).

But the problem is that the starter can only start once or twice in many times of trying, and when it fails there's only gag bit click of the solenoid but no cranking. This happens randomly --- sometimes, I can not start immediately after a long drive and parking; sometimes, I can not start in the early cold morning...

But one thing for sure, when I tried two new batteries, the car can start immediately after I installed the two new battery.

Also, I tried, as the manual suggests, to connect the 12V power directly to starter solenoid at the starter box terminal, but the same thing happened --- The's only a loud click indicating the solenoid closes, but no other sound or action is detected. Though, it also cranks at some random time.

Do you know what's the problem and what I should do?

BTW, mobileinstallat, what does "sounds like a hot starter not ign kill prob" mean? could you explain it in more detail? thanks.

It seems all connection is good.

The only starter's symptom is, both through car control curcuit (clutch, starter cut relay ...) and through direct wiring from battery poles (direct 12V battery to starter solenoid), click but no crank.

Seems the starter is having some bad trouble...

Sounds to me like you have a bad spot in the starter.

When it does not start try tapping the starter motor with a hammer (not real hard) if the car starts then you will know the starter is bad.
