I have an Eclipse but Pio, Alpine also make quality products. It really is up to your personal taste, the look, the power, the features and ultimately, how much do you want to spend. If you want to hook external amps, Eclipse's hi voltage output is awesome. Pioneers tend to have A LOT of extra features.

JUst bought the 960mp , wish I did my homework first  like you are  doing know  would of went with what i would be hearing not what I would be seeing. [8 volt pre out, holy crap!!] Not trying to discredit pioneer though my last deck was pioneer  and I was more then happy with it and I'm sure I'll  feel the same about this one too. And I agree the features  on the pioneer are overwhelming. very tweekable in network mode .but in the end let your ears tell which one.

I have the Pioneer DEH-4700MP.  Even though it is a mid-to-lower line of Pioneer (meaning it lacks some of the features of the higher lines),  I love its sound and reliability.  For $170.00, you can't beat the price or reliability of Pioneer.  After trying a couple of other Head-units, I swear by Pioneer.
