I bought a basic keyless entry system (Audiovox AA-925) for my girlfriend's car.
It has 3 wires for the locks: (1)+unlock/-lock; (2)+lock/-unlock; (3)-unlock (2nd pulse).
The Saturn locks work on a -lock and a -unlock (with 1.5k ohm resistor).
I attached wire 1 and wire 3 (with resistor) into a serial connection to the door lock/unlock wire on the car. Right now, the lock works beautifully, the unlock works well but I have to press unlock twice (so wire 3 can send the - pulse).
Is there a better way for me to wire this? I'd like to have it so she has to press unlock only once. Also, I'm having a hard time having the Option button unlock the trunk. No matter how much I try to program it, I can't get the third channel to send any kind of signal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use relays:
Wire 1 to pin 86 (lock relay). Wire 2 to pin 86 (unlock relay). Ground to pins 87 (both relays). Fused 12V to pins 85 (both relays). Pins 30 of both relays to cars lock/unlock wire (appropriate one through reistor). This will be more reliable anyhow-- your setup might stop working in different temps and such depending on how forgiving the Ion is of different resistance values...
What wire are you testing for a signal on? (I.e., how do you know that no signal is being generated?) If you're not putting a multi-meter across the wire that's supposed to generate a signal, you don't know....
However, often you have to press that option button for anywhere from 1.5 to 4 seconds before it starts sending a pulse...

Oh yeah-- trunk release on that car is (+) polarity-- are you using a relay to convert polarity?
