i've got the memphis 16-MCH1300 5 channel amp that i installed a few days ago. as of now i'm only running 4 speakers off of it and it's over heating. being that it's a 1300 watt amp i'd like to have a 2 gauge wire to it, but the connection is only for a 4 gauge and i'm running like 17 feet of it. if it's over heating now i'd hate to see what it's gonna do when i hook up the sub.

any suggestions?

What is the ohm load to the amp per speaker (if you can, use a DMM to find out). Is your ground well attached (to bare metal, direct to chassis?) Did you upgrade your battery ground by chance? Does it overheat at low volumes as well?

the ohm load to each speaker is 4 ohms, the ground is well attached to bare metal.

i did not upgrade the battery ground though. i did not know that was necessary. i'd never heard that before.

i definetly hope it's not a problem with the amp being it's a new amp and the place i got it from is now out of business.
