I installed a alpine 3w7t-18c868 from a 2004 grand marquis into a 97 ford ranger. Does this radio require a factory amp? when any bass or high treb hits the sound distorts like the volume is being turned down. If it doesn't require an amp is there anything else I should look for or is the radio just defective.
Thx

Most likely the speakers in the ranger cannot handle as much power as the speakers that were in the previous car, it almost sounds like the ranger speakers are blow. What speakers did both have?
