Has any one ever made their brain module of their vehicle detachable. meaning change the bracket that holds the brain or move it to a position that is easily removable by just unplugging the connectors and carrying it with you like a deck face. it would be large to carry around but would be a good theft deterent in situations like where you leave your car parked long hours in unknown territory -airports.

Any comments?

I would think that some sort of ign kill switch would be more practical.

Besides how would a thieve know that your ecu is detachable and gone. I wouldn't call it a theft deterent. He is still going to break your windows and try to steal your car.

Would a kill switch to the power line to the ecu work?

At this point, you might as well just do a starter or ignition kill.  If you cut the power to your ecu you will likely notice that the vehicle will not run very good every time you turn the switch off for a while.  Same thing with removing the ecu.  Most vehicles have to go through a relearn procedure of some sort in which they will not run good for the first few starts.

if you take out the ecu you will have to take the car to your local dealer to re-code the ecu!!!!
