OK i solved the problem it was so stupid of me i'm embarressed to post it. but i'm going to in the hope that people reading it will learn from my mistake.
All my wiring was right i knew that.
My first instincts the other night was a fuse was blown so i got the test light out(cos it was getting dark and its easy to see). i tested all fuses and they where ok. today i tried the door pin for continuity and it has0.9 so that was ok. I checked the fuses again with multimeter. one of the fuses read 12V on one side and 1.3V obviously enough to light the test light the other night.
moral of the story Always, Always use a DMM
would have saved me time. I hope somebody lears from this and my embarrassment is worth while
