I wondered if anyone knew it is possible to make some sort of converter that would allow connecting a usb drive to a car stereo via the MD/Cd Changer input. Thought it would be a cheaper alternative to buying an mp3 compatible stereo, anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks,

Sandy

I had noticed this option but was sceptical of sound quality with it being FM modulated. I was more thinking of a hard-wired version.

Thanks for trying:)

I have recently discovered that it is ILLEGAL to transmit an FM signal in this country (Sweden) unless you have a license to do so, so that pretty much rules out the FM option for me:(

PS Any more suggestions welcome:)

I really don't think you can get in trouble for this, Sandy. Here in America, it is illegal to transmit an FM signal over a few watts. I'm pretty sure these units don't even come near a watt, total in output. The pictured unit is available on Ebay for cheap.

The alternative is still an FM modulator like the one in the link above, BUT, it injects the FM signal directly into your headunit without "transmitting" anything.
