I know this might have nothing to do with electronics of cars but i feel very safe with this forum and I feel that theres gotta be someone that can help me out. I am wanting to drop my truck 2 inches on front and back. I was wondering if there were any specific website that gave me step by step instruction to lowering my car. I know i need smaller springs, im not sure if i need a camber kit or anything else.. I talked to a guy at a shop today and he said with a 2" drop i woudnt need a camber kit. All i would need is springs.  I dont know which springs to buy or whats a good price. Im very new to under the car stuff. I was hoping i could install the springs myself instead of paying a shop $800(the guy quoted me at) for springs and labor. Id rather do it myself. Would i need a couple hydraulic jacks? If someone can please help me i would be very very very happy. Thankyou!

In order to remove the springs, you will need a spring compressor ( I think kragen and the likes rent them). Then either buy new springs or cut the original ones. If you take a torch to them be quick about it because too much heat on them will ruin them.

I don't really remember how to do this properly so research it thoroughly, but I did this on an old mustang in auto shop years ago and it was fine. It isn't 4 wheel drive is it?

Cutting them ruins them anyway. Geometry is thrown all off, ride will suck munkeys.
It's really simple to change out coil springs and you don't NEED any special tools (though they are nice).
::EDIT:: with the bags, it's gonna be a bit harder and a lot more expensive. I'd go ahead and put bags alll the way around.

bags all the way around?? U mean put bags in the front? I can rent a spring compressor from auto zone for free, i put a deposit in and then when i bring it back they give me my money back. Im gonna buy springs online and then install them myself is that ok?

if it has leaf spring rear susp. you can use lowering blocks..they cost about 25 bucks. as for the front just change the springs out, and make sure you get an alignment after you are done.

How do you plan on dropping the rear? You can't just let the air out, it would fill back up as soon as you turn on the truck. Bags in the front would not only give you a hella smooth ride compared to lowering it, but it would be adjustable.

I dont care that much about the smoothness of the ride if air bags in the front are gonna cost me alot as in over $500. I want the cheapest way possible to drop my truck but not ghetto as in cutting the springs. I am really confused on how to drop the back end with the bags in the back?

You can't without replacing them. You might replace them with coil springs but it would require a good bit of fab. The easiest way is to replace them with different bags and a seperate tank and compressor. If you go that far you may as well put bags in the front. There is no way to safely drop that truck for under $500.
::EDIT:: Unless you can do the fabrication required to somehow fit coil springs back there.

I found a kit for 98-00 expeditions with rear air ride for a 2"/2" drop. Its $300 shipped. I have never taken apart the underside of my car as in the suspension. I want to install the kit myself though, but i have no idea how to take the suspension apart. Are there any tutorials or sites on taking apart suspensions? Ive searched on google and i cant find anything. Thankyou nik for the help so far.
