Spilled Resin in my trunk!

Okay to make a long story short I had raw resin leak out of the can into my trunk and onto some tools and other things, now how do I clean this crap up? About half a gallon came out, do I need to go buy alot of Acetone and just douse it all?

Ouch. For what is in the trunk soak up as much of it as you can with paper towels or anything else that is cheap and expendable. Then take some paper towels with acetone and finish it off. For the tools(only handtools no drills, dremels, or airtools), fill a bucket with acetone and let them soak.Certified Security Specialist

Oh wow, what a mess. Just put hardener in the resin on the carpet and paint it so you have a fiberglass trunk, then you'll look super custom and everyone will be none the wiser. Or you could replace your carpet, I don't know if rubbing it with acetone would be worth it or even work in the end. Hope something works out for you, say, how did this much resin get spilled anyway?

soak it up, pull the carpet out because it has soaked through, clean up the mess on the metal before it eats of any paint, then replace carpet. The harsh chemicals will destroy the carpet any way. Good luck

probably about half the gallon can I had, just goes ot show, this is what happens when you let idiot friends tap the lid shut on the can, next time I'm going to do it like I should have! Thanks for all the help, I've already gotten a new carpet piece being custom upholstered so thats cool, but today I'm goign to go buy a couple gallons of acetone and start soaking the tools

next time, use a cardboard box to carry your supplies. i'm always paranoid about putting cans of resin in my car.. i usually put a can inside two plastic bags, and then into a cardboard box.

I had a fried spill about a quart to a half gallon of BONDO on his front floorboard... needless to say I got a "emergency" cell phone call from him on the road "GET PAPER TOWELS READY MAN I'VE GOT A BIG PROBLEM..." I thought he cut his hand off or something ahahha come to find out the bondo can tipped over and got that stuff all over his floor... hahahaha

Acetone works but laqure thinner works better.
