For the last year, I have been paying out to fix my security system on my 200 Monte Carlo.  I am now ready to bypass it completely.

The original problem is the security light comes on and on occasion, the car will not start.  But most of the time, the security light just comes on.  If you shut it off and restart the car, it will go away -- for a while.  Replaced BCM twice, cylinder twice.  Performed the bulletin regarding replacing the 3 terminal on the BCM harness.  No luck.  Three different GM dealers have worked on it.  GM TAC (Tech Assistance Center) is wanting the dealer to rewire the three involved wires.  Dealer wants $300 to do this.  But I am done paying, as no one will guarantee that doing that will fix it.

Can I completely bypass the system?  Will the keyless entry still work?  Is there a module I need to by that will do this?  I have only driven the car 400 miles in the last year for fear of getting stranded.

Please help.  TIA!

Greg

Have you thought of insurance fraud?....Im sorry for your troubles, but I would really think of an accidental fire, or a theft leading to your car being found in a lake. My god man, the dealer techs REALLY suck.

A slightly sarcastic post like mine will keep this thread at the top.....I am really sorry for your troubles, I wish I had some answeres. Some factory security systems from GM have "some" programmingoptions!

I would try ONE MORE dealership....explain your woes, and see if there might be a way to bypass it. Is it dorr security, meaning if the door is opened without the transmitter or key, the alarm goes wacko. Honk, and horn.

Is it the factory security alarm, or was it a KARR alarm installed at the dealership?

It is the factory security system.  Today, they are installing the 3rd ignition cylinder in attempts to rectify the problem.

BTW I love my car.  It is a limited edition Pace Car Monte Carlo.  I would like to get teh problem fixed but I have already spent so much money on trying to fix it with 3 differnent dealerships.

Very good question brought up... was your alarm a factory unit, or a KARR aftermarket alarm installed at the dealership.  Big difference.  One works, the other is usually a mockery of everything good and holy.

As I stated in the above post.  It is a factory security system.  And yes if you arm the system and open the door the horn goes off.

Thanks

Greg
