No power when key at ACC

I just bought a new Pioneer cd player (DEH-P4700MP), and have a small problem. I have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra. I've wired the player's harness to the factory wiring harness, and hooked the the wiring harness to the unit in the car, but the player doesn't work. After hunting around, checking wire connectivity etc. I have narrowed it down to a dead wire. The yellow constant power source wire works fine, I tested it with a DC detector, no problem. However when I turn the key to the ACC position, there is no power detected at the wiring harness that is connected to the car itself (red wire). The cd player seems to be the only instrument in the car that uses that Accesory line, so I couldn't compare other instruments. When I hooked up the wiring harness to the car (but didn't hook the end into the cd player itself) and tested the CD Player end, the constant power source worked fine, and the red ACC low and behold did not work. What I want to know is who should I go to in order to have this checked out, the dealer or a car audio place? I'm assuming the problem lies somewhere in the ignition wiring. Also, is it possible that there are other wires that only come on in the ACC position (don't want to drain the battery of course) that I could possibly tap into?

I ended up hooking the ACC wire into the ACC of the cig lighter and everything works now. For some reason that one ACC wire was just dead. I had to splice some wire in between but it worked out ok. I tried the DC Detector on the old ACC wire and it registered nothing, the cig lighter however registered that there was power.

You probably had a blown fuse.Certified Security Specialist
