strobe light w/alarm?

i want to hook up strobe lights so i can turn them on with a switch and so they flash when the alarm arms and disarms or is tripped....can i do this by using the parking light output on the brain and tapping into the switch????

You can do it with relays, diodes, and off of the siren output of the alarm.Certified Security Specialist

why would i need relays and diodes im not going to use the cars actual parking lights just the strobes

i also have a auxilary wire could i use that?

its + so 85=- 86=parking light output 87= strobes and 30=constant 12V?

The aux wire is for aux electronics like a trunk release or window modules. It might be a "ground when armed" in which case it would act like the "armed" led. You would have to wire the siren output to a relay to switch the polarity (and boost the power) and the diode would be placed on the alarm wire so when you turn on the switch, it won't send an unwanted signal back tot he brain, frying your alarm system.

Like you stated, ground when armed is not an led, nor did I say that. I said it would ACT like an "armed" led (the little red blinking led that comes with most alarms), meaning it would only work when the alarm is armed. Next time understand what you read before throwing out un-necessary comments like that.

my light output wire has an inline fuse already in it so i still dont understand y i cant just hook that up to the strobe lights switch and as far as it backing up into the brain wouldnt it do that with your headlight switch too if u used the parking lights?
