starting my car with a remote controler..

Im from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico and I don´t speak the english very well. I hope that you understand me, thank you.

 I have a sidewinder 6000 ESP and I want to learn about alarms, I would like to know if  I can conect to my alarm the remote starter?,  It is necesary to buy an other module ?  and how can i do it?

My car is a pontiac Grand prix 1994.

The remote starter has to have an auxilary start input wire so it can remote start by another remote device. The only thing is that if your alarm remote control has bad range, then the remote starter will also have bad range ( just a thought ).

The Sidewinder is a product from Directed Electronics and they also manufacture a remote starter model 551T which will interface nicely with your alarm. 

You can use the RED / white channel 2 output to activate your remote start. 

If you plan to keep the alarm armed during remote start then:

Remove the yellow wire ignition input on the 12 pin harness from ignition and attach it to the brown accessory wire at the ignition harness to keep the alarm from seeing an ignition at start-up, make sure the yellow on your starter kill relay sees a true ignition though. 

You will need to isolate the impact sensor with a relay, the 551T has an output for this.

Jeff has a point about range.  What I do is that I use the remote starter to control the alarm. 

Obviously if the Sidewinder is new, I would take it back and exchange it for a combo.....it'll come to the same price at the end with the advantage of a simpler install and greater range.

yes hotrod my key have this resistor.

The 1994 Grand Prix has a VATS system in it and it's a basic bypass that you will need.

This system uses a resistor in the key, use a digital volt meter set to ohms and put 1 lead on each side of the vats chip in the center of the key, find a resistor to match your reading.

Locate the Orange or Black tube running down the steering column from the ignition switch. Cut open the tube to epose the passkey wires insie. Your resistor or trumpet should be within +/- 10 ohms of the key. Either of the passkey wires can be cut. GM uses only a fixed number of different resistors with their PASSKEY/VATS system, your measurement should correspond to one of the following values.
