Simply scuff up the plastic surface, prep with a plastic prep to clean the part, then I like to use SEM flexable primer, sand smooth, then paint. No need for glass unless you want to build a part up a certain way or add something on to it.

I get my fleece on sale from any fabric shop. The cheaper the better. Use 3/4 for sub boxes and 1/2 for your center console

Yea first remove the vinyl and any left over glue. When we say scuff it up, we mean use some sand paper to remove anything on the part, you can use a fine grit so the paint and everything else sticks a lot better.steps to fiberglassing the stock plastic? -- posted image.

use staples on mdf and hot glue for things you cant staple, likeplastic and glas molds...

you can also use thinner mdf for a console- I built one for an s10 truck years back out of cardboard- the glass gives it strength....
