does anyone have any suggestions? i need to put an alarm with just one sensor on the main door on a boat. just one door sensor and one siren. can someone hook me up with some product info? ive got tons of experience in car audio/ 12 volt, but none in security. i thought id start out with something simple.

ideally what you want theere is like a house type door sensor..

try get and alarm with prox sensor.

mount the sensor near the door try avoid and metal obstructions.

yeah for the door you get the magnetic contact switches (even home depot has them). You drill each plate on on side of the door when they are closed current flows, when someone opens the door the contact is broken and the alarm sounds. You might be able to alos used the door pins or hood pins which come standard with the majority of the alarms. As far as brands, AutoPage, Prestige (Audiovox) make good products. Maybe later on you can add like 2 mini piezo sirens (120db) so that way if someone breaks in the sound inisde the boat is unberable and they have to roll out quick (less things to grab) the sounds is ear piercing (also known as ear bleeders).

AUTOPAGE RF-310 is like $39+15sh on e-bay throw in the motion sensor for like 20 shipped and your done. the mini piezo sirens are 15 shipped for 2 (they can be hooked up into the main sire wires).

(1) Kenwood Excelon Head Unit KDC-X589 (24 bit Burr Brown DAC, 3 X 4 volt RCA).

(1) RF Punch 250A2 - running the components.

(1) Hifonics 6.5" Atlas Components (18db crossovers).
