Hi all, I'm still learning electrical stuff, call it a crash course if you will and I'm trying to install the above mentioned CD player in a 1989 Volvo 780 Bertone Coupe. The previous owner had a cheap CD Player in there that recently died and when I took the old player out, I realized that he hadn't bought an adapter kit, he simply cut the cars wiring harness and spliced in.

I had the kenwood from my old 240, went out a bought a voltage meter and got a 2 minute crash course on how it works from a friend at work. I found the switched power and the constant, and, obviously the ground was black. I hooked those 3 up just to make sure I had things right, turned the car on and the CD Player will spin, accept CD's and eject CD's but nothing comes on as far as faceplate, etc.  It's like it only has power to the CD Drive, nothing else. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to hook up all the speakers and antenna before it will work properly?

Any advice anyone would have would be most helpful. I know the Kenwood works, at least, it did when I took it out of the 240 a year ago.

Thanks,

Brian

try just hooking up one speaker and plug in the ant to see if there is any thing coming out of the radio. also might want to double check your power and ground make sure a fuse didn't blow while you were hooking it up. just a couple of suggestions.
