Do you guys think it's at all possible to run JL 10w0's off of the 5th channel of the Alpine MRV-F450 amp?

F450 specs - https://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

I know it may not be the most ideal but would it work, and well enough?

How many 10wO's do you plan on running?

My brother-in-law has that same amp in his single cab Chevy truck and is running 2 W1's with it and it sounds really good.

In taht situation, I would probably go with a Vented enclosure with those subs and with the power that you have to supply them. If installed in the right vented enclosure they will sound real good and pound pretty hard too.

So you don't see any problem running both 10's on just that one fifth channel of the sub?  I've got channels 1-4 taken up by my Focals in the car.  What Ohm sub should I look at?  If I am reading things correctly if I go with two 4ohm subs and wire them in parallel it'll give me a 2ohm total load right?  Can my amp handle that?

I'm terrible with this stuff......

You're not the only one, grassfeeder, as sub wiring can be very confusing.  The fifth channel is mono and capable of a 2 ohm load.  However, it can take a higher load such as 4 ohms, but will not produce as much power that way.  Choose subs that will give you a final 2 ohms when connected together.  Possibilities are:

Using two subs for a 2 ohm load:

  • two single voice coil 4 ohms
  • two dual voice coil 2 ohms

Using two subs for higher than 2 ohms:

  • two 8 ohm SVC subs (4 ohm load)
  • two 6 ohm SVC subs  (3 ohm load)
  • two DVC 3 ohm subs  (3 ohm load)
  • two DVC 4 ohm subs  (4 ohm load)

Use a wiring wizard such as http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp before you buy to be on the safe side.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
