Alright we'll ive decided and have my heart set on purchasing a RE 12 XXX. It will be in a ported box tuned in the low 30s. Now Ive been hearing that i need 1800-2000WRMs to make it happy and also heard that 1200WRMS to it would be fine too.
Now anyone who owns one, I would like to ask what amps you are runnign to it and what SPL levaels are you achievening?
For me i won't be competing at all, it will be used for daily use. What kinda power do i need to feed this beast.
Also i know in the back of my head that 1200WRMS is gonan drack a FARK load of current so I also want to know what would be the best / most efficient amp to get.
Budget well budget was 400CDN for a used amp but give suggestions as if their was no budget. Thanks.
Also ive had my eye on a PG tantruom T 1200.1 Put out 1200WRMS + @ 4 ohms and i see it for 400CDN is this a good choice if not please give me better reccomendations..
Thanks

ermmm, i have recently purchased a xxx, now the rms is 1600w from the specs given by re. i have used an alpine mrd-1005 amp, this allows a 1000w rms figure and a 1800w spl burst. the sub runs like a beauty at 1000w, 1200 or 1600 is a bonus. however the amp you need is entirely upto you, because on one hand alpine amps along with the head units are very musical whereas a rockford amp or something around that area would push your sub hard. so depending on what you want, but why are you looking at a tantrum amp, its an older model from phoenix but yet it is still good.

now i've looked into some amps and over here in england you can get a Digital designs DDM1 amp for around £450, so take a look over in canada for the price on that it reaches 1200w at 1 ohm and gives a 1760w spl burst, now the MRD-1005 alpine amp is dead cheap over here only £280 and its a fully digital class d amp. If i were you get the dual 2 ohm version as it can be wired to 1 ohm parallel or 4 ohm series. good luk

BTW, that Tantrum it will put out more than 1200 watts. More like 1400 - 1600. AND it a class T amp, so it's plenty efficient. Somewhere in the 80 - 90 % range.

I know its underrated But looking at the birthsheet for one it says 153AMP current draw to produce that 1400WRMS and efficiency was around 65% pretty weak. But i can bet that 1400WRMS cleaner than many other mono amps out their.
Francious70: I know you posted on the pG boards too and i have time to time. What the hell happen to them?
