Might be a really stupid question....but I am in need of 1 short patch cable and 1 really long one. A few years back I had a huge entertainment system. Think I dropped $800 alone in Monster cables (RCAs). Well, its long gone but I still have this pile of high $$$ cables sitting in a box and was wondering if any of those are usable?
The 2 things that still need cables are the sub-out to the sub amp and a short patch from the XM to the aux input on the head unit.
What think ye?
Subtlety is EVERYTHING.

Sure they'll work. Probly not much better than a $20 set but they'll work.

Home cables may have less noise shielding, that's about all.

They're the same.  Just use them.  High quality cables are high quality cables- there's no difference from home to car.  In fact, some people argue that the home environment can actually have more noise due to the miles and miles of noisy power lines that run to your house.

I don't buy into the whole Monster Cable idea- the company I used to work for shoved them down our throats.  I got tired of it, and proved to coworkers there's no visible difference on quality media equipment when using Monster Z-series component cables and out-of-the-box component cables from an HD satellite receiver.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
