Hi people.

Here's my problem. I got a 4dr '97 Civic and the small motor that opens/closes the door locks got burned. I went to about 30 garages, and 10 junkyards, noone has it. Called the dealer, they got it for, be prepared.... 150$. I mean, the motor is at most 5$, but they want 150$ for it.

Is there an online store that can have it?

Thanks for your answers, I really need it, coz I just installed a new alarm, but the driver's door can't be opened by it because of the burned motor :(

Check Majestic Honda @ http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

You can buy any part on your civic there (were talking about down to the bolts which hold the headlights, and panel clips).  Their system is like the dealership (except better prices), you see the diagram and parts are labeled.  It is so detalied that the door lock has 50 items which make it up and you can buy all of them on the site.  Another option aftermarket actuators (got 4 great Audiovox units for $20 shipped for my Camry of e-bay, very, very nice units).

This looks like the right actuator list price $43.76 mjestic price $32.71 item #5 listed as ACTR, R, FRNT.

Delaership always out to rip you off.

Just add an actuator and a relay to the door. IT will cost you about $ 10.00 total and a little bit of elbow grease. Use this diagram for the actuator:

i'd go with the OEM myslef usually a better fit

are you sure that the motor is burned out i know some honda's  especially japanese imports over here don't have a motor in the drivers door. its just an actuator that controls the opening of the other doors in this case you need an additional actuator as above

The Honda/Acura vehicles in the USA/Canada are motor driven. I didn't know the overseas versions are central locking type. Cool

only some of them.

i noticed it one day doing an install. i'd touch the neg lock wire with the doors open and the passanger would lock. but because it thenseen the drivers door opened it would open again.

SO i immediatly thought the drivers door motor must be bust.. alass it was not  turned out  the idea is you open the drivers door with the key and the other doors open and vise versa..

after some investigating i heard this is common on japanese import honda's

Hi everyone.

Thanks for your replies.

1. I can't replace it with an actuator, because there's more than just a lock. If I press on the lock's handle (the thing that sticks out, that goes up/down when you unlock/lock the door), then ALL the doors close (it has an integrated switch. Also, if the door is open, I can't lock it with that handle (prevents you locking your keys inside).

2. Yes, I'm 100% sure the motor is dead, because I took the whole assembly apart and the motor was rusted (couldn't even turn it with plyers).

3. I still can't believe that someone will try to sell you a 2$ motor for 40$.

Thanks everyone, I'll try Majestic Honda.

Good luck bro.  The dealership probably buys their stuff from Majestic Honda and then try to rip people off.

bobk, I went to 5 electronics stores around me, noone has that kind of motor.

Mabuchi, ~10000 RPM, 12Volt. They only got 1000-2000RPMs.

If I could find a junked Civic, but there's none :(

for the sake of $30-40 dollars or whatever it was. i'd get the brand new motor. should just bolt out and bolt in.

save you travelling around and ringing to find a honda lock then disassemble two lock swap the motots and put it back together..

i would do that instead of paying the dealer.

but for the price of the majestic hoda lock. just buy it
