I heard someone say using a corded electric drill as a screw gun could damage a vehicle's electrical system and/or set off an airbag.  Only cordless or handheld screwdirvers should be used.

Any thoughts?

Well I suppose if you used it to drill into an ECU or into the airbag wiring harness, then yeah, they are not safe. Using a corded drill will have no effect on electrical systems in the vehicle. Just use common sense on this one.
