Hey guys, i'm going to be installing a deck in a friends car and he has a 94 Cadilac Elderado with a bose system. I've done decks in cars with an Infinity amp and usually they have a remote turn on wire that will turn the amp on but i was told with bose you cant always do that. So my question is, with that system in that car what must be done to get everything 100%. Thanks.

On a 94 you should have no problem powering up the factory amp using a harness- if there even is one. My brother's caddy had the bose system, and no amp, with 4 ohm speakers. If you do have an amp and wish to bypass it, check behind the back seat. That's where it should be. Sometimes it was easier to just run new speaker wire from the radio direct to the speakers. Just make sure they're at least 4 ohms first.

What I did with a Seville was go right to the back of the Bose speaker and disconnect it from the amplifier that was built into the back of the speaker and wire it straight to the deck that I was installing.

This Eldo does not have amps on the speakers. The deck is just a controller, the amp is behind the right rear wheel well and also contains the tuner. Therefore you must not only run 4 speaker leads to the trunk but also an antenna lead.The kit is also very unique, I like Metra's 99-2002. Be carefull prying the trim bezel off the stock HU.

Common ground input stage ( one shield ground shared by the 4 signal leads ) so there aren't enough wires to splice around the amp. You need to run the antenna coax anyway so just run all the leads with it.

That vehicle has a amp on each speaker. The control head is what you see in the dash. In the right rear is the receiver box which is the tuner and controller which sends a signal to each amp. I don't know if I would bypass it unless the amps are bad. I would interface it with the PAC OEM-1 interface and corresponding wire harness. If you decide to bypass the amps then you will have to replace all 4 speakers as they are 1 ohm and will burn what ever amp or deck you install. The impedance of bose speakers are very low, almost a short. Bose Amps are voltage amps, not the current amps you see the most of.

I'm assuming you would be replacing the speakers of course and using the wires going into the doors and rear deck as speaker leads. The amps are what fails on these cars, usually a cap explodes and you get a loud screeching noise, always replace the speakers, 4" in doors, 6X9s in rear.

I just found out that the amp is not blown. I know i must be a pain in the ass but i just want to get it straight so i know next time. With the amps still working all i would really need to do is get an exptension cable for that antenna correct? Also, is there a remote turn on so since the amps are not blown i can hook that up and the speakers will function?
